Bisexual Dating in Cape Town, Kept Between Us
Meet curious locals discreetly, then pick a bar in De Waterkant.
Cape Town's Curious Side
More than 170 My Bisexual Secret members live in Cape Town, and more than 300 across the Western Cape. That's your pool for bisexual dating here, and this page adds De Waterkant and its bars, Pride, a bi social club, testing and PrEP, trains and taxis, and getting home safely.
Western Cape members are among the youngest on the site: one in three is 25 to 34, and a quarter more are 35 to 44.
Members in the Western Cape by age.
Men are the large majority, with a smaller group of women. Fancy men? Men seeking men explains how that side works, and bisexual women covers the other.
Where Cape Town Comes Out to Play
De Waterkant has long been regarded as the centre of Cape Town's LGBTQ+ social scene, around Waterkant Street, Somerset Road and Napier Street, and Time Out groups it with Green Point and Sea Point. In 2026 the city was also named best LGBTQ+ city destination at the Spartacus Travel Awards.
| Area | What's there | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| De Waterkant | Café Manhattan, open since 1994 | A first drink |
| Green Point | Green Point Track, home of the 2026 Pride Mardi Gras | Pride in February |
| Clifton | 3rd beach, which South African Tourism calls the busiest gay-friendly beach | A summer afternoon |
| Somerset West | Lourensford, where amBi Cape Town has met at the night market | Meeting bi people in a group |
| Stellenbosch and Paarl | Northern Line trains via Bellville, none on Sundays | A date out of town |
Café Manhattan, described in the press as Africa's oldest queer bar, hosts quizzes run by drag queens, and its crowds spill onto Waterkant Street. Pink Candy is the nightclub for drag and DJs. Both made Time Out's 2026 global list of the world's best queer venues.
February Belongs to Pride
Cape Town Pride takes over every February. The 2027 festival runs from 5 to 28 February, with the Parade and Mardi Gras on Saturday 27 February. In 2026 the parade set off from Alfred Street at 11am and finished with the Mardi Gras at Green Point Track. Bigger still, Cape Town hosts WorldPride from 30 September to 14 October 2028, the first African city ever to do so.
amBi Cape Town
Launched in 2022, amBi Cape Town (#amBiCPT) keeps a private Meetup group of more than 50 members, with outings from the Lourensford Night Market to online hangouts. Events come and go, so check the group before you plan around one.
Home Safe After a Cape Town Date
- Ride accredited. The City's own advice is to use accredited transport, such as e-hailing services, taxis, cabs or buses.
- Stay in the light. Keep away from deserted or dark areas, and after a night out stick to lit routes in a group.
- Start somewhere busy. A bar with people around suits a first meet, and a friend should know where you are.
- Save one number. Cape Town Tourism's Band-Aid visitor support line, 021 487 6552, answers around the clock.
MyCiTi buses take a myconnect card, tapped on and off, and Metrorail's Southern Line runs to Muizenberg and Simon's Town. On the site, a blue tick from a free ID check tells you someone is who they say; see how we keep members safe.
Testing and PrEP Close to Home
Every public clinic in the Western Cape tests for HIV at no charge. City of Cape Town clinics provide oral PrEP, and since June 2026 the province has been rolling out injectable lenacapavir, initially at 22 facilities across the Cape Town metro, so ask at yours. Triangle Project lists HIV testing and PrEP too, and its helpline on 021 712 6699, open 1pm to 9pm, is there if you'd like to talk something through first.
